District Governor 1120 visits Gibraltar

On Tuesday 20 August we were visited by the District Governor of 1120 Chris Barnett and his wife Gloria

As always, it was a pleasure to be able to entertain and maintain our close relationship with our Rotary friends
from Kent & East Sussex. Chris gave us an interesting talk and up-dated us on  current RI and RIBI
philosophies and also told us a little bit about life as a District Governor.

We wish him well for this year as DG.

Mare Nostrum Project

On Tuesday 30th July, two French University students, Douglas Couet and Louis Wilmotte, made a presentation to the Rotary Club of Gibraltar on their scientific project called Mare Nostrum.

The two young men will be leaving from Gibraltar in a specially designed Kayak and will travel to Istanbul carrying out scientific experiments on sea life along the North Coast of the Mediterranean. It will take Douglas and Louis at least a year to complete their 10,000km route.

The primary objective of the project is to participate in scientific missions along the way collecting water samples for further research on invasive species in the Mediterranean Sea.
