The Rotary Club of Gibraltar strongly supported Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee in Gibraltar. As well as here of course, the event was celebrated all around the world on the 3rd June and people in the UK hosted many street parties in honour of this very special occasion. On the same day here in Gibraltar the Rotary Club (together with the Government) also celebrated with a great spectacular, a Big Lunch street party which was the biggest ever held on the Rock.
There were many activities and entertainment for people of all ages. It started with the fancy dress competition for children under the age of 12. This was followed by a parade up Main Street to the Piazza. Long-standing Rotarian, Mr. Momy Levy launched the proceedings by leading the crowd with three cheers to her Majesty and singing the Anthem 'God Save the Queen'. Momy said “It is fabulous and I am thrilled to bits. It is what I expected of Gibraltar - it has been a wonderful day for all".

There were two theatrical stages with live music (Jazz and Soul) playing throughout the day and featuring some of Gibraltar's finest talent. Stalls selling handicrafts and ethnic food along Main Street were also prominent and well supported by the public.
Children's activities included a bouncy castle in the Piazza and a number of other organisations gave demonstrations of dance and cheerleading. There was also a fashion show courtesy of the renowned international designer, Reene Weston.
The Rotary Club’s Press and P.R. Officer, Lyana Armstrong-Emery on behalf of the Committee thanked the Gibraltarian public for their active participation. She remarked ; “A great day for Gibraltar with great atmosphere and lots of party music at every corner! It was truly a day we will all remember!”
